WELCOME! to Current Health 2's Web extension for September 2008.
Who doesn't love laughing? A silly movie, a corny joke, a crazy costume—they're all fodder for a healthy guffaw. Yes, indeed, laughter is some of the best medicine around, as ouar article "Get Your Laugh On" reveals. We think you and your students will have a fun time putting these ideas to the test!
On a more serious note, we've also included in the September issue an article called "A Shot of Prevention." It's an introduction to the whens, whys, and hows of vaccines. Our piece doesn't get into the safety issues about some vaccines that seem to be making headlines these days; instead, it's a good primer for students on how vaccines work are used as a public health tool. As such, we believe it's a good jumping-off point for delving deeper into vaccine-related topics.
We hope this issue inspires gets you and your students off on the right foot for a great year of learning about health. (A revamped Get Up and Go! section is just one place to start.) Good luck this school year, and thank you for letting us be part of it.
Cordially,
Meredith Matthews
