February is National Children’s Dental Health Month. Help your students brush up on their dental basics by reading Current Health 1’s special dental issue!

Inside, we cover everything a young adult needs to know about their mouth, from how to stay cavity-free to picking the perfect type of braces. This issue also contains quizzes that test students’ knowledge of their teeth and gums.

The February edition also profiles schools that offer uniquely nutritious lunch menus. We offer tips for how your students can create their own healthy lunch. And don’t miss the story of a teen refugee’s inspiring journey from Kurdistan to Nashville.

New contest!

Teachers, encourage your 5^th and 6^th graders to “Fight the Bite”—they might just win $1,000!

Mosquitoes and ticks may cause more than itchy bug bites. They can also spread diseases such as West Nile virus. That’s why the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Weekly Reader are sponsoring a contest where students make posters describing how to prevent mosquito-borne diseases.
