Drug Wars

Many anti-drug campaigns don't resonate with students. Have students create their own anti-drug campaign poster urging kids to keep away from drugs.

Share with students that a new study released by the Partnership for a Drug-Free America found a 25 percent decline in methamphetamine use and a 30 percent decline in marijuana use among teens. However, one in five high school students admit to abusing prescription drugs. Discuss the trends with students. Ask: Why might some illegal drug abuse be down among teens, while prescription drug abuse is up? What are the dangers of abusing prescription drugs?
