The Taliban are consistently outnumbered by police and soldiers in both Afghanistan and northwest Pakistan. Why do you suppose they are becoming more successful and a danger to both countries?
Some people have suggested that the United States and its allies cannot win a long war against the Taliban in Afghanistan without the full cooperation of the Afghan people, who are traditionally suspicious of foreigners. If so, the U.S. should simply withdraw from the country and forget about capturing Osama bin Laden and his supporters. Do you agree? Why? Why not?
