Get Out of 'Gitmo'

 

  • Have students take a poll of their own classroom. How many support Obama's decision? How many oppose it?

     

  • Have students research the use of presidential executive orders in history. Possible topics include President Harry Truman using an executive order to integrate the armed forces; President Eisenhower's edict to desegregate schools; and Presidents Kennedy and Johnson issue executive orders to bar racial discrimination in federal housing, hiring, and contracting.
