Crash Course!
Have your students experience what distractions can be caused by using electronic devices with this activity.
Create a curved track using markings on your floor. Designate a class secretary to record how long it takes to complete the course and how many times each student touches the course lines.
First, have each student walk the course normally. Then, give students a calculator and ask them to complete simple math problems while walking the course.
How did the course times change between the two activities? Did the kids touch the line more or less when using the calculator?
