Al Gore, a former U.S. vice president, is set to receive the Nobel Peace Prize on December 10. He was chosen because of his work to protect the environment. Alfred Nobel, the creator of the annual award, wanted the Nobel Peace Prize to go to the person who did the most or best work to increase goodwill among countries, to reduce or get rid of standing armies, or to hold and promote peace meetings.
Do you know anyone worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize? What has he or she done to make the world a better place? How has he or she fulfilled Alfred Nobel's vision? (Remember: the person does not need to be famous.)
